Blissmo Box August 2013 Review

This is my first ever box from Blissmo.  I am not sure if this is a “Best of” or “Introductory” box.  I was able to skip the month of August very easily online.  I only skipped because I had just ordered this box.

You can get your own Blissmo Box here.  You are able to choose what type of box you would like each month-usually between food and beauty, but sometimes there is a third choice.  The price is $19.95 per month, plus $4.95 shipping.  If you subscribe for 6 months, you get free shipping.  You can get a 1 time Blissmo Bites 2 pack for only $29.95 with free shipping if you want to try the box out.

Boulder Canyon Natural Foods Kettle Cooked Potato Chips.  I like Kettle cooked chips, and normally purchase the Cape Cod brand (since I live in the North East).  I have seen this brand in my natural food section, however, and I am excited to try them.  I love that Boulder Canyon purchases  green energy credits.  My family also purchases energy from a green supplier.  We pay extra, but I feel really good about putting my money where my mouth is-so to speak.  This 2 oz bag is 2 servings, and a generous sample size.  Value is about $2.  Boulder Canyon is having a facebook giveaway where you can enter to win a month’s supply of boulder canyon and an awesome lunchpack.  Enter here.

Lydia’s Organics Kale Krunchies in Mega Green.  These were one of the surprise products in the box for me.  When I first saw that the only full size item in the box was something green, I was immediately reminded of the seaweed from my Love With Food box in June.  I like my kale Russian, with some bacon (or at least Olive Oil) and wine.

I had to admit, they were beautiful.  I hesitantly brought one leaf to my lips and closed my eyes.  Then, I had a few more just to make sure!  It wasn’t bad-I really like the spice combination.  These are good for me?  I am going to look for these at my local health food store-but online, the prices range from $8-$12 for one bag of these Kale Krunchies.  Visit Lydia’s Organics website to locate a bag for yourself.

“Pease porridge hot, Pease porridge cold, Pease porridge in a pot, Nine days old”-English Folksong.  Couldn’t help myself.  Earth’s Supergrains porridge is a mixture of oats, other whole grains and seeds.  This is a 62 g sample ($2 value).  I can’t wait to try it tomorrow morning!  You can purchase through their website online, and get free shipping when you purchase 3 bags.  There is also a Raw Rev 100 Cherry bar.  These bars are orgain, gluten free, kosher and more.  Raw Rev is also made in NY-and only 100 calories ($.75 value).

This was the other surprise for me today-Halfpops, 2 oz ($1.5 value). I haven’t had a corn-nut in 15 years, but these reminded me so much of corn nuts.  Except, where corn nuts were chip-your-teeth hard, Halfpops are just satisfyingly crunchy.  They aren’t very healthy-this is an indulgence.  You can order these directly from Halfpop if don’t live in the west or NYC ( where you can purchase them in store).  Right now, you can purchase sixteen 2 oz bags for $23 and get free shipping.  I am going to see if my husband and daughters like them first, though.  If I had 16 bags to myself, I’d be in trouble!

The total value of this box was about $23, which is right in line with the cost of the box.  With some boxes, I am interested in the monetary value, and with others, the curation is more important to me.  In this case, when I consider that I can’t obtain most of these products without paying shipping for each one separately-there is a monetary savings.  But, I would never have known about several of these products if it wasn’t for Blissmo.  So far my impression of Blissmo is positive.  I feel that the box was well curated, and I received a nice mixture of products.

Disclosure: All opinions are my own, and I paid for this box with my own money. I am not affiliated with Blissmo, or any other brand mentioned with the exception of Amazon.com.  If you make a purchase at Amazon through my link, I may earn a very small compensation.  Thank you for supporting this website.  Doing so helps bring more content and giveaways.
